Waste Reduction

Reducing the Waste Stream

Waste reduction is the process of making subtle changes to a company’s operations, in order to reduce the waste that is disposed. By reducing the amount of waste produced, you will also reduce your company’s waste disposal costs, as you won’t require as many collections of waste. There may also be cost savings made by not buying replacement products which will turn into waste.

As part of Network Waste’s site audit, we will investigate potential ways on how you can reduce waste.  We will advise you on costs and benefits, and the changes your company may face (if any).

Some basic scenarios of waste reduction can include: -

  • Replacing paper towels with air dryers,
  • Replacing disposable paper or plastic cups with reusable mugs or beakers,
  • Using duplex functions on printers and photocopiers,
  • Replacing single-use batteries with rechargeable batteries,
  • Reusing incoming pallets and crates for transporting outgoing goods,
  • Reusing rubble from construction waste to produce concrete bases.

Waste reduction, when combined with waste recycling and waste segregation, will significantly help your company to not only become greener, but also save significant financial costs.
