While diverting waste from landfill is our day-to-day green challenge, three members of our team faced a different kind of green challenge last Friday – in the form of the Youth Hostel Association’s “Breaks for Kids” charity golf day. Our very own Mike Taylor took part in the event, alongside Steve Hatton and Daniel Oliver from Reconomy.
Mike, pictured accepting our trophy, stated “We are pleased to continue to donate to YHA’s fund raising, and support this excellent cause.”
Breaks for Kids is a charitable fund that YHA operates to help children from financially disadvantaged backgrounds, when they take part in a school or community group break away. This gives them life-enhancing experiences through adventurous educational stays, and promotes personal and team/social development and environmental awareness through exciting activities and challenges.
Without the help of our donors and supporters, some of the young people who stay with YHA through Breaks for Kids would never have this opportunity because they simply can’t afford it. The Breaks for Kids initiative, which has been running for almost 20 years is fully funded by individual donations, solicited gifts and grants from charitable trusts.
